Re: Nico Hülkemberg
FELIZ 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lo ya mencionado antes os rescato esto de la pag.4 y pag.7 de este post donde estan las noticias completas sobre el tema del las cuales os rescato algo;
" L.S. Re: Nico Hülkemberg
RACE AN A1GP DRIVER AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL
Thursday, January 11, 2007 Fans of A1GP World Cup of Motorsport will have the ideal opportunity to find out more about the international racing series at Autosport International at the NEC, Birmingham this week (11-14 January). Not only will one of the 520bhp A1GP cars be on display, but drivers and team personnel will also be appearing on the A1GP stand. At the centre of the stand in Hall 9 will be one of the series’ cars liveried with the flags of the 22 nations currently competing, including that of championship leader, A1 Team Germany. However, running a close second is A1 Team Great Britain and one of its drivers, Robbie Kerr, will be the first guest on the stand on Thursday at 12.30. Also scheduled to appear on the stand are A1 Team Ireland Team Principal, Mark Gallagher, at 3pm on Friday and A1 Team Lebanon drivers Basil Shabaan and Khalil Beschir at 11am and 3pm on Saturday. While on the stand the drivers will be interviewed about the series, as well as being available for photographs and to sign autographs. However, their racing skills will also be tested as there will be a special Scalextric race track featuring the A1GP cars. Other show appearances for Robbie on Thursday will be on the Autosport Central Stage at 3.15pm and the Karting stage at 2.30. One of the most successful A1GP races to date was the very first, at Brands Hatch in 2005. This event was a resounding success with a crowd of over 72,000. For this second season the Kent circuit will host the season finale on 29 April and tickets for this can be purchased at the show on the A1GP stand (9-137). A1GP is fast approaching the halfway point in its second season with the action in the races in the Netherlands, Czech Republic, China, Malaysia and Indonesia some of the most exciting in the sport. After the show the series will again break new ground with a race in Taupo, New Zealand on 21 January, followed by return visits to Eastern Creek in Australia (4 February) and Durban in South Africa (25 February). Another pair of new venues will be Brazil (18 March) and Mexico City (25 March). The series will then return to the state of the art Chinese track in Shanghai for the penultimate round on the 15 April two weeks before Brands Hatch.

Re: Nico Hülkemberg
Taupo Track Transformed
Saturday, January 13, 2007 Taupo Motorsport Park in New Zealand, the venue for the next round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport between January 19-21, has undergone a facelift Joan Rivers would be proud of. Situated in a rural area on the outskirts of the central North Island town of Taupo, the Motorsport Park was, until 12 months ago, essentially a club circuit with minimal facilities. A small army of contractors has changed that by extending the circuit to 3.5km and completing a permanent control tower and pit lane garages. For the A1GP event, considerable earth works have preceded the building of 25,000 temporary grandstand seats, the erection of marquees and temporary buildings and the enhancement of safety fences. Grass has been sown and telecommunications and electrical cables have been laid, as have fields of scoria bed run-off. The venue, with green fields, tree-lined hills and the impressive Tauhara Mountain providing a picturesque backdrop, is becoming a unique motorsport venue, even though the timeframe for the transformation has been incredibly tight. Taupo was officially given the green light to host Round 6 of the 12-round A1GP championship on August 11, leaving just 23 weeks to organise the event and create facilities in keeping with the quality of the Series. There have been roadblocks along the way that have made the timelines even tighter, not least the lack of enough temporary grandstand seating to accommodate the anticipated number of spectators. With no firm in Australasia able to supply the quantities needed off the shelf in the time available, the event promoters, in conjunction with Acrow International and A1GP, sourced the structures from Asia. Some 25,000 seats were bought, enabling final crowd numbers to be determined and tickets to go on sale, late in November. All but 5,000 grandstand ticket-holders will be in numbered seats, the majority of them in a lengthy row of structures 21 rows deep and 5.5 metres high along the majority of the main straight with superb panoramic views of the track. Ian Maskell, the project manager for A1GP, said the philosophy is to provide a platform for optimum viewing pleasure while giving spectators their own personal space. “If they want to grab something to eat, have a toilet stop or even make a quick trip to their car (parked in a field behind the main grandstands), with allocated tickets they can’t lose their seat,” Maskell said. “We’ve endeavoured to be as fan-friendly as possible while completely rebuilding the site. “It’s essentially a brand new purpose-built circuit. Anyone who has gone to an event at Taupo in the past wouldn’t recognise it. The old circuit was there for 27 years and it is virtually unrecognisable.” The changes were necessary to host cars of the calibre and power of the A1GP single-seaters. Not only are the cars the fastest to ever race in New Zealand, the track has been adapted to international standards that are also a New Zealand-first, given the rigid requirements for cars that can approach 300km/h. It is a case of “the faster the car, the higher the level of circuit”. Motorsport’s world governing body, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), has specific criteria for its Grade 2 tracks and they must all be met if an event is to be officially sanctioned. “What’s different? It has to be longer, it has to be wider and it has to have longer run-off areas,” Maskell says. “The minimum length has to be 3.5km and the minimum width is 15 metres. Most other tracks are no wider than 12 metres. Taupo is 17 metres wide in some places. “Taupo is now New Zealand’s first track to be homologated to FIA Grade 2 standards and we’re determined that this entire event will be world-class as well,” he says. That means a wealth of entertainment, good catering and an incredibly exciting support race programme. The opening ceremony before the two points-scoring races on the Sunday will feature more than 100 volunteers and performers on the start/finish straight paying tribute to the local region with a focus on Maori culture, Taupo ‘moments’ and New Zealand today. The ceremony includes the utilisation of a local 40-strong Kapa Haka group, local school children performing in costume and a visit from a denizen of the deep Lake Taupo – the region’s most impressive landmark formed by one of the most violent volcanic eruptions in history. On the food front, the caterers will be bringing in all their equipment, including four state-of-the-art Combi Ovens worth almost $30,000 apiece that will allow them to cater at the level of a five-star hotel. Some 530 catering staff will be operating on the weekend to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to the 450 crew from A1GP and the 21 competing nations, as well as service 200 media representatives, provide 10,000 corporate meals in nine separate environments and churn out countless hotdogs and pottles of chips. They also have to make 600 packed lunches for themselves! To cope with the leftovers from such a massive hosting exercise, event organisers sought specialist advice from the Waikato Waste Advisory Service to put in place a ground-breaking recycling programme. Initiatives range from provisions for the teams to recycle engine oil to providing spectators with the ability to easily recycle drink cans and bottles. Amenities and signage have been designed and intended for re-use in following years and a tree-planting programme in conjunction with local schools will help mitigate carbon emissions. But it is hard to escape the conclusion that the track itself will be the hero of the A1GP weekend. While major focus will be on Corner 1 and the potential for some real action, knowledgeable locals will also be keeping an eye on Corner 9 in the in-field. In re-configuring the track, a tight chicane has been replaced by an ultra-fast right-hander that could make it a real test of bravery as well as skill. With more than $12 million being spent on transforming the venue, event organisers are committed to making the Taupo event one of the real highlights on the A1GP calendar. That way they maximise the circuit’s appeal as a long-term A1GP home…and only the odd piece of cosmetic tinkering should be needed to ensure the facelift remains attractive.

Taupo: Team Germany preview
Racing series A1GP Date 2007-01-17 A1 Team Germany with new driver concept in 2007 Willi Weber's A1 Team Germany starts 2007 with a new driver concept. After five of the twelve A1 Grand Prix Series races, which the successful Stuttgart based motorsport manager's team leads by twelve points, the squad appears with a second driver: regular driver Nico Hülkenberg from Emmerich receives support from Christian Vietoris from Gönnersdorf. "Nico has driven a faultless season to this point, and has demonstrated what he can do by scoring two wins together with David Sears' race team", explains Willi Weber. "There are three reasons why we aim to provide the best possible support for him: Firstly, because of his depth of experience the regulations prohibit his participation in the Rookie Session on Friday. Christian will now assume this role. Secondly, a reserve driver is now always on hand just in case of emergency. And thirdly, Nico will have a busy racing schedule during the 2007 season. So, it is possible that Christian will also race." The 17-year old Christian Vietoris will taste his first A1 Grand Prix Series race weekend from 19 to 21 January in Taupo, New Zealand where the sixth race of the season is held. "I checked out the circuit on the internet and spoke to somebody about the quirks of an A1 Grand Prix car", explains the "star of tomorrow" from the Eifel. He is, as reigning 2006 Formula BMW Germany Champion, successor to Nico Hülkenberg, who won Germany's most important formula newcomer series in 2005. Nico Hülkenberg looks forward to his team mate's support - and to the end of the winter break. "I've never competed in a race series over the winter, which is why it's a fantastic feeling to start the New Year as championship leader, but I can't wait any longer and want to get behind the wheel again", says the 19-year old Rheinlander excitedly. "It goes without saying that we want to defend our lead." The 3.5 kilometre Taupo circuit is situated on New Zealand's North Island and is used for the first time by the A1 Grand Prix Series. Broadcast times on Premiere: Qualifying Taupo: Saturday, 20 January, 2:05 a.m. (live), 5:30 p.m. (highlights); Race: Sunday, 21 January, 2.10 a.m. (live), 9:15 a.m. (highlights). -credit: team germany 0.029

Re: Nico Hülkemberg
Brazil race removed from 2006/07 schedule
Racing series A1 GP Date 2007-01-17 BRAZILIAN RACE WITHDRAWN FROM 2006/07 CALENDAR The A1GP Brazil, due to run on 18 March 2007, has been withdrawn from the World Cup of Motorsport's 2006/07 season calendar following a delay in securing a local terrestrial television partner to provide nation-wide coverage of the series. A1GP representative and seat holder of A1 Team Brazil, Emerson Fittipaldi said: 'A1GP has decided to withdraw the Brazilian race from this season's calendar as it has taken longer than expected to secure free-to-air television coverage of the series within the market. A1 Team Brazil and A1GP have been working for some time to secure a wider-reaching television package to support our cable coverage in Brazil, ensuring that all Brazilian fans can follow the series that is conquering millions of followers around the world. We look forward to announcing final details shortly, after which, we will be able to ensure a successful race in Brazil and treat the Brazilian public to the full extent of the A1GP excitement.' A1GP chief executive officer, Pete da Silva added: 'Every A1GP race is watched by an average of eight million viewers in more than 150 countries through our network of international television partners. Strong television coverage has proved vital when building consumer support for A1GP and ultimately drawing crowds to an event. 'Over the past months, A1GP has worked closely with the city of Rio de Janiero, the Jacaregagua circuit and the CBA to ensure the venue is fully equipped to host a round of our series. Both parties have been hugely supportive in this respect and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their work. However, as a new business, in its second season of racing, it is important that we put full consideration into every aspect of an event to ensure its viability and success. At this stage, without the support of a terrestrial television partner on board in advance of the event, A1GP has taken the decision to withdraw the Brazilian race from this season's calendar.' -credit: a1gp 0.031

Narain Karthikeyan to drive for A1 Team India in New Zealand
Wednesday, January 17, 2007 Williams F1 Team test driver, “The Fastest Indian in the World”, Narain Karthikeyan, will race for A1 Team India at Taupo, New Zealand, in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport this weekend. Karthikeyan brings to the Indian team a wealth of racing experience. His career spans over ten years of competition and during this time he has risen through the ranks, learning his race craft in the junior Formulae before graduating to Formula One in 2005 with the Jordan Grand Prix team. A national sporting hero in India, he says of joining A1 Team India, “I’m very proud to drive for my country in A1GP. I’ve been following the team’s fortunes since the start of the Series. Frank Williams has kindly agreed for me to race, but my Formula 1 testing duties for Williams will always be my number 1 priority. I am very thankful for Sir Frank’s support and feel very privileged to be in Formula One, but like all racing drivers I want to race fast cars. In recent months, I have had several offers to drive in America and Japan, but I chose A1GP because the race schedule does not clash with my Formula 1 commitments. “I hope that I can help A1 Team India improve its performance in the Series, as well as heighten its profile back home. I know that I’m joining the Series part way through the second season and many teams have been working with experienced drivers since the start. If I can accelerate the learning curve for the team and we can make progress, possibly scoring some points, I’ll be very pleased.” Yohann J Setna, A1 Team India Seatholder, adds, “We’re extremely delighted that Narain is joining A1 Team India in New Zealand. Narain will bring invaluable experience to the team and we are confident we can provide him with a competitive package, which we hope will help him secure a Formula One race drive in the future. I know that he will be an excellent asset to us and I’m sure he’s going to enjoy the unique environment of A1GP. The nation will take great pride in watching Narain driving for his country in New Zealand and I hope it will be the first of many outings for him this season and in the future.” Born in the Southern Indian city of Chennai, Karthikeyan developed his interest in racing from his father, a keen rally competitor. He began his motor racing education at the Elf Winfield School and quickly progressed through the junior racing Formulae, becoming the first Indian to win the British Formula Ford Winter series in 1994. He followed this by taking the Formula Asia Championship title in 1996. Moving back to the UK he competed and won races in the British F3 Series. Narain became the first Indian to test a Formula One car in 2001, testing a Jaguar R1 at Silverstone, while he also competed in the World Series by Nissan. Jordan Grand Prix recognised the young Indian’s talents and heralding a new and exciting era in his home country’s motorsport heritage, the team signed him to drive one of their F1 entrants in 2005. In 2006 Narain moved to Williams F1 Team as Test Driver and he continues in this role for 2007
