3rd Position in the first Season



Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3) is the new champion of the Formula 3 Euro Series. Thus, he is following in the footsteps of new Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton (champion in 2005) and DTM drivers Jamie Green (2004) and Paul di Resta (2006). The 21-year old Frenchman finished second in the 19th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg behind his team-mate Nico Hülkenberg.

The 20-year old German scored his fourth victory of the season in the world’s toughest junior race series. Yelmer Buurman (Manor Motorsport) crossed the finish line in third place.
Grosjean started from pole position, but he was pipped by Nico Hülkenberg. During the 24 laps of the race, he made one attempt to overtake the leader, but to no avail.
Best-placed rookie was Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus) in sixth place. His main rival in the battle for the title of the best novice, Frenchman Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport) finished eleventh, which made him the fifth rookie. This allowed Mortara to take over the lead in the rookie standings with one round remaining. His margin is four points.
Nico Hülkenberg (ASM Formule 3): “My goal for today was winning the race and that was exactly what I did. It wasn’t easy as Grosjean kept me under pressure throughout the race.”

Tre rookie per la ASM 2008, Hulkenberg pilota di punta

Potrebbe portare al debutto tre rookie la ASM nel 2008. La formazione francese che questo weekend potrebbe instascare l'ennesimo titolo della F.3 Euro Series con Romain Grosjean, per la prossima stagione dovrebbe confermare Nico Hulkenberg come pilota di punta. Poi tre giovani promettenti che si affacciano per la prima volta nella Euro Series: Christian Vietoris (come Hulkenberg della scuderia del manager Weber) e con esperienze nella F.3 tedesca e nella A1; Kazuya Oshima, protagonista della F.3 giapponese e nuovo pupillo della Toyota; Jules Bianchi, protetto da Nicolas Todt e vincitore della F.Renault francese.

BMW compila una lista de posibles sustitutos para Glock

¿Quién será el próximo piloto probador del equipo?


Está comenzando a surgir una lista de candidatos para reemplazar a Timo Glock en BMW-Sauber como piloto de pruebas principal. El alemán de 25 años, que recientemente se ha coronado como campeón de la GP2, se espera que dentro de poco firme para tener un asiento como piloto titular en uno de los fórmula 1 propulsados por Toyota.
Ante la inminente confirmación de los planes de Glock, se espera que el director de BMW, Mario Theissen, nombre enseguida a un nuevo piloto de pruebas antes que dé comienzo la temporada de pruebas de invierno.

Según Auto Motor und Sport, el campeón de la A1GP, Nico Hulkenberg - el joven de 20 años supervisado por el representante de Michael Schumacher, Willi Weber - está en cabeza para obtener ese puesto.

Otro joven alemán que se oye entre los candidatos es Christian Vietoris, actualmente piloto del equipo A1GP Alemania y que ya se consagró vencedor de las series mundiales de la Fórmula BMW el año pasado.
También entre los posibles candidatos está el piloto estonio Marko Asmer, campeón 2007 de la F3 británica y bajo vigilancia de BMW desde la época en que la casa de Munich suministraba motores a Williams, y el irlandés Adam Carroll, que ha ganado dos carreras en la GP2 este año después de regresar a ella bien entrada la temporada. 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series: 20 races on European soil


29.10.2007 - Two street circuits, three Formula 1 GP venues and ten race weekends featuring a total of 20 races: that’s what the Formula 3 Euro series drivers may look forward to in 2008. France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, England and Italy are the countries that will host rounds of the planet’s most competitive young-gun series, in 2008. 18 of the 20 races will be held within the scope of DTM, thus offering the up-and-coming talents the chance of proving their skills in front of an average crowd of 80,000 spectators as well as the DTM Team Principals. While one race weekend will be contested in the support programme of the WTCC.

The street races at Nuremberg’s Norisring (D) and in Pau (F) represent special highlights for the young drivers. Furthermore, the Formula 3 Euro Series will race on the Formula 1 tracks Hockenheimring (D), Circuit de Catalunya (Barcelona, E) and Nürburgring (D). The other race weekends will be held at Zandvoort (NL), Brands Hatch (GB), Mugello (I) and the rich in tradition Le Mans circuit (France). Hockenheim traditionally represents the venue of both season opener and season finale.

For the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil and Kazuki Nakajima, the Formula 3 Euro Series represented the stepping stone to Formula One. They all received a GP driver or test driver deal at the pinnacle of motor racing, following their successes achieved in the world’s most competitive young-gun series. At the same time, Bruno Spengler, Paul di Resta, Jamie Green and Alexandros Margaritis were signed by Mercedes-Benz for DTM. Since the creation of the Formula 3 Euro Series, a total of 21 drivers made it straight to Formula 1 or DTM, from there - more than from any other series worldwide.

Record winner Romain Grosjean

02.11.2007 - The fifth Formula 3 Euro Series season is history, the title was won by Frenchman Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3). But the young driver residing in Switzerland did not only prove to be the dominating driver when it came to scoring points. At the same time, he also secured the most race wins and set more fastest qualifying laps than any of his rivals.

The 21-year old prevailed in six races: he won one of the two rounds of the season opener held at Hockenheim as well as at Brands Hatch, the Norisring, Mugello, Zandvoort and Nogaro. At the end of the day, he celebrated two race wins more than Nico Hülkenberg (ASM Formule 3) who came second in the race win statistics. Hülkenberg won a round at every German circuit (Hockenheim, Nürburgring, Norisring) and also made it to the highest step of the Zandvoort podium. Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport), runner-up in the championship, celebrated three race wins: two at Hockenheim, both in the season opener and finale, and one at Nogaro. Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus) proved to be the best rookie by prevailing twice in his debut season on the Formula 3 Euro Series grid, one at Brands Hatch and one at Barcelona. Altogether, nine drivers succeeded in winning one or more Formula 3 Euro Series races, in the 2007 season, among them another rookie: Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport):

The champion also holds the top position when it comes to the fastest qualifying laps. Four times, Grosjean outqualified the entire field: at Mugello, Zandvoort, Nogaro and in the season finale at Hockenheim. Both Sébastien Buemi and Nico Hülkenberg set two fastest qualifying laps thus securing pole position for the Saturday races: The Swiss did so in the season opener at Hockenheim and at the Norisring while Hülkenberg proved to be the quickest at the Nürburgring and Barcelona. Altogether, five drivers set fastest qualifying laps in the 2007 Formula 3 Euro Series season, with none of the having been a rookie:

Auch einige Fahrer des Feldes der Formel 3 Euro Series wollen in Macao um internationale Anerkennung kämpfen

Auch Nico Hülkenberg wird in Macao sein Glück versuchen

Ein kleines Land, ehemals portugiesische Kolonie und heute chinesische Sonderwirtschaftszone fasziniert die Motorsportwelt seit Jahren: Macao. Die nur wenige Quadratkilometer große Halbinsel im südchinesischen Meer bei Hongkong besitzt eine Rennstrecke, die für europäische Verhältnisse unvorstellbar ist. Diese Rennstrecke existiert nur an einem einzigen Wochenende im Jahr, ansonsten ist sie eine Mischung aus engen Gassen, schnellen Geradeausstücken, Bergaufpassagen, Gefällstrecken und gefährlichen Kurven - eine ganz normale Straße in der Stadt eben. Seit über 50 Jahren ist dieser 6,2 Kilometer lange Guia Circuit Austragungsort eines der spektakulärsten Rennen, das es auf der Welt gibt. Und seit über 20 Jahren trifft sich die Formel-3-Elite dort, vom 15. bis 18. November zum 25. Mal. Der erste Macao-Sieger in einem Formel-3-Monoposto war der unvergessene Ayrton Senna. In diesem Jahr tritt dessen Neffe an: Bruno Senna.

Der Brasilianer kämpft dann gegen 29 der weltweit besten Formel-3-Piloten. Unter Ihnen auch der Champion des ATS Formel-3-Cup. Carlo van Dam geht in Macao ein hohes Risiko ein. Erst seit einem Jahr in der Formel 3 unterwegs und trotz Meisterehren in Deutschland, ist der Niederländer doch ein eher unerfahrener Neuling in der Szene. "Zudem kenne ich weder das Team, noch das Auto, noch den Motor, noch die Strecke", so Van Dam. Deshalb ist sein Ziel klar definiert: ankommen. Für Carlo van Dam, der 2007 souverän den Titel im ATS Formel-3-Cup holte, geht es in Macao darum, einen Achtungserfolg zu holen, auf sich aufmerksam zu machen und seine Klasse zu beweisen. Im österreichischen Team HBR Motorsport fährt Van Dam einen Dallara-Mercedes.
Neben dem Champion der schnellsten deutschen Formel-Rennserie ist auch ein Team aus dem ATS Formel-3-Cup in Macao am Start: Swiss Racing. Für die Mannschaft von Otmar Welti und Erich Kolb ist der Macao Grand Prix eine bekannte Größe. Die Truppe aus der Schweiz absolviert seit Jahren dort ihren persönlichen Saisonabschluss. Dieses Mal mit den beiden Einheimischen Cheong Lou Meng und Jo Merszei.
Einziger Deutscher am Start ist Nico Hülkenberg. Auch er bestritt seine ersten Formel-3-Rennen im ATS Formel-3-Cup, um dann in die Euroserie aufzusteigen und nun in Macao gegen die Konkurrenz aus aller Welt anzutreten. Der Mann aus Emmerich und sein Team ASM zählen beim 51. Macao Grand Prix zu den Favoriten.
Ein Sieg in Macao ist für jeden Formel-3-Piloten ein wichtiger Meilenstein in seiner Karriere. Ein Auszug aus der Liste der Erfolgreichen belegt den Stellenwert des Rennens: Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Ralf Schumacher, Takuma Sato. Vom 15. bis 18. November geht es um alles oder nichts, denn nirgendwo liegen Sieg oder Niederlage so nahe beieinander wie auf dem gefährlichen Stadtkurs in Macao - passend für ein waghalsiges Rennen im Spielerparadies vor den Toren Hongkongs.
