James Jakes hat ein Cockpit beim ART-Team ergattert und wird in diesem die Formel-3-Euroserie 2008 bestreiten. Dass es kein einfaches Jahr sein wird, davon ist der Brite überzeugt, schließlich bekommt er es mit mehreren weiteren Titelfavoriten zu tun, darunter Nico Hülkenberg.

Diesen hat er auf der Rechnung: "Alle meine Teamkollegen werden sehr schnell sein und auch Nico ist in seinem dritten F3-Jahr, er wird sehr stark sein", berichtet er auf 'autosport.com'. Doch Jake ist fest entschlossen: "Es muss ein gutes Jahr für mich werden. ART ist das beste Team, das ist einer der Gründe, warum ich da hin wollte."

Hulkenberg: Un debut emocionante y divertido

Considerado uno de los nuevos talentos del automovilismo, el alemán Nico Hulkenberg recordará su debut en la Fórmula Uno con el equipo Williams con gran satisfacción después de completar dos jornadas de entrenamientos en Jerez sin problemas.

El joven de 20 años, que la temporada pasada ganó el campeonato de A1GP para el equipo alemán, dice que su primera experiencia con un monoplaza de F1 "fue realmente emocionante".

"El primer día me dediqué a adaptarme al monoplaza, sobre todo con las velocidades y los frenos porque son bastante diferentes a los que estoy acostumbrado. La segunda jornada me permitió hacer algunos progresos con mis tiempos".

"Creo que trabajé muy bien con los ingenieros a la hora de comentarles mis reacciones. En general, fue muy divertido y por ello doy las gracias al equipo Williams por darme esta oportunidad".

Hulkenberg piloto probador de Williams pero no de reserva - avance

Su representante asegura que el contrato se firmará pronto

Según se ha informado, Nico Hulkenberg obtendrá un contrato para ser piloto probador de Williams en 2008. Al publicación alemana Sport Bild dijo que el nuevo protegido de Willi Weber probará para el equipo situado en Oxfordshire el año que viene, pero se sabe que Hulkenberg, de 20 años, no será designado piloto oficial de reserva.
"Eso sería demasiado estresante", dijo Weber a Auto Motor und Sport, por el contrato que tiene Hulkenberg con el equipo ART para competir en la F3 Euroseries en 2008.

El joven alemán probó para Williams durante dos días la semana pasada en Jerez.

Weber le dijo a Sport Bild: "Creo que el contrato con Williams se firmará en Navidad".

Einem weiteren Deutschen scheint der Schritt in die Königsklasse zu gelingen: Nico Hülkenberg soll einen Testvertrag bei Williams-Toyota erhalten. Das berichtet 'Sport Bild online'. Der 20-jährige Schützling von Willi Weber hatte vergangene Woche zwei Tage lang für das Team in Jerez getestet. Mit 95 weitgehend fehlerfreien Runden konnte er das Team überzeugen. Manager Weber geht davon aus, dass "der Vertrag mit Williams bis Weihnachten in trockenen Tüchern ist." Neben der Testarbeit für Williams wird Hülkenberg kommende Saison für ART in der Formel 3 Euroserie fahren. Dort gilt er als einer der Titelanwärter.


Hülkenberg machte vor allem im vergangenen Winter international auf sich aufmerksam. Als Einsatzpilot des A1 Teams Deutschland dominierte er die A1GP-Serie und holte vorzeitig den Titel für Deutschland. Schnell bekam er Spitznamen wie "Hülk" und "Hülkinator" verpasst. In der Formel 3 Euroserie kam er vergangene Saison zunächst nicht so gut in Fahrt, konnte sich dann aber steigern.

El equipo Williams Toyota ha confirmado hoy que el alemán Nico Hulkenberg ha sido contratado como piloto probador oficial de la escudería para la próxima temporada.

Hulkenberg, que probó para el equipo de Grove la semana pasada en Jerez, causó una positiva impresión y mostró una gran madurez al volante durante los dos días y los 425km de pruebas que realizó en el trazado andaluz.

Tras un detallado análisis de sus cualidades dentro y fuera del coche, el piloto alemán ha sido el elegido para desempeñar las labores de probador en Williams a partir del 2008.

Tras conocer la noticia, Hulkenberg ha comentado que "los dos días de pruebas en Jerez con el equipo AT&T Williams la semana pasada fueron la culminación de un objetivo que llevaba persiguiendo desde que piloté mi primer kart en 1997. Cuando salté a la pista al volante del FW29 cumplí con todas esas expectativas e incluso las superé. Así que el haberlo hecho lo suficientemente bien para ahora ser nombrado piloto probador oficial del equipo es algo asombroso y para mí la Navidad ya se ha adelantado. "

En las últimas tres temporadas, el ex Campeón alemán de karts ha participado en el Campeonato Alemán de Fórmula BMW, la F3 Alemana, en la A1 GP y en la Formula 3 Euroseries. De sus 68 carreras en esta serie de competiciones, ha logrado 25 victorias y 14 poles, ganando el título en la Formula BMW ADAC y ayudando a que el equipo alemán lograra el Campeonato A1 GP title in 2006/7.

En 2008, Hulkenberg volverá a participar en la Formula 3 Euroseries, categoría que compatibilizará con sus labores de probador en la Fórmula Uno.

Sam Michael, Director Técnico de Williams, ha comentado que "Nico ha seguido todo el proceso de nuestro programa de evaluación de pilotos hasta llegar a sus dos días de entrenamientos en Jerez de la semana pasada. Ha demostrado un enorme talento en las categorías junior, pero era muy importante para nosotros comprobar que tenía el talento suficiente para dar el siguiente paso y llegar a la Fórmula Uno. Por lo que hemos visto hasta ahora, Nico es un piloto rápido y muy capaz."

Hülkenberg, who tested for the team last week in Jerez, made a positive impression and conducted himself with maturity over the two days and 425kms of development work. Following the detailed assessment of his capabilities both in and out of the cockpit, he has been awarded the official test driver role which will commence in 2008.
On the confirmation of his appointment, Nico said, "The two days of Formula One testing with the AT&T Williams team last week in Jerez were the realisation of an ambition that has driven me ever since my first kart race back in 1997. When I actually got out on track in the FW29, it fulfilled every expectation and more. So to have represented myself sufficiently well to have been appointed as the team's official test driver is the most amazing news and for me, Christmas has come early."

Nico Hülkenberg also secures Formula 1 deal

17.12.2007 - Just a few days after the signing of reigning Formula 3 Euro Series Champion Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3) as test driver or the Renault Formula 1 team, Nico Hülkenberg (ASM Formule 3) also succeeded in securing an F1 deal. The German who finished third in this year’s Formula 3 Euro Series season was signed as test driver by Williams Toyota.

Hülkenberg’s promotion to Formula 1 represents a kind of an anniversary. After all, he is the 20th driver who made it right from the Formula 3 Euro Series to Formula 1, in the five years since the creation of the planet’s most competitive young-gun series, back in 2003. With this success, the Formula 3 Euro Series established in impressive style as Formula 1’s best feeder series. Four drivers on average have made it to Formula 1 per year - more than in every other series worldwide.

“Having been offered the chance of testing two days for Williams at Jerez was a dream come true”, said Hülkenberg who is going to contest a second Formula 3 Euro Series season, in 2008. “A dream I had been dreaming since my very first kart race. And it’s even better that I succeeded in convincing Team Williams with my testing work to sign me as test driver. This year, Christmas has come eleven days earlier, for me.”

At Jerez, Spain, the 20-year old impressed the squad around Team Principal Frank Williams with fast lap times and a good feedback. Over the course of the two days of testing, he covered a total mileage of 425 kilometres. “For us, it was vital to see if Nico already is matured enough for Formula 1,” said Williams’ Technical Director Sam Michael.

In the coming season, every driver of the Williams-Toyota line-up will have Formula 3 Euro Series experience under his belt. This applies to Nico Hülkenberg as well as to the team’s two Grand Prix regulars, Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima.

„Für das Rennen am 19. und 20. Januar haben wir uns viel vorgenommen, allerdings wollen wir die Erwartungshaltung im Vorfeld nicht zu hoch ansetzten“, so ITR-Mann Christoph Hewer, der die Mannschaft nicht nur zusammengestellt hat, sondern auch betreuen wird. Die Formel 3 Euroseries gilt als einer der besten Nachwuchs Lieferanten für die Formel 1. Wer sich hier durchsetzt, hat beste Chancen, eins der begehrten Cockpits in der Königsklasse des Motorsports zu erobern. Und so ist es nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass die Mannschaft die Christoph Hewer aufbietet von Insidern als einer der Top-Favoriten auf den Gesamtsieg der 24h von Köln gehandelt wird.
Die Zusammensetzung der Teams kann sich wirklich sehen lassen. Unumstrittener Star der Truppe ist Nico Hülkenberg. Der Niederrheiner, der seit kurzem einen Vertrag als Testfahrer beim Williams F1 Team in der Tasche hat, gilt als eines der ganz großen Nachwuchstalente des deutschen Motorsports. Neben Cindy Alleman, die pfeilschnelle Dame im Team, sorgen weitere Top-Piloten aus der Formel 3 Euroseries für ein homogenes Profil.
“Was den reinen Speed angeht, dürfte unser Team zu den schnellsten Mannschaften der 24 Stunden von Köln zählen“, so der Teammanager. „Wir wissen aber auch, dass bei einem Langstreckenrennen mehr als der reine Speed zählt. Bis zum Rennen wollen wir uns deshalb auf unsere Aufgabe soweit wie möglich vorbereiten. Williams iniciará su andadura en el Campeonato del Mundo de F1 2008 sin haber realizado la tradicional presentación de su nuevo monoplaza, según se desprende de diferentes informaciones publicadas esta semana.

El Williams FW30 con motor Toyota hará su debut en las primeras semanas de enero, pero se cree que la escudería de Grove completará los primeros kilómetros con su nuevo monoplaza sin realizar antes ningún tipo de acto de presentación..

A pesar de que la descalificación de McLaren ayudó, el equipo Williams finalizaba la pasada temporada en una más que aceptable cuarta posición en el Campeonato de Constructores, lo que supuso una importante mejora respecto al año anterior.

Nico Rosberg tendrá como nuevo compañero esta próxima temporada al japonés Kazuki Nakajima, mientras que el joven piloto alemán Nico Hulkenberg será el nuevo piloto de pruebas.

"En cuanto a nuestro rendimiento, estrechar el margen que nos separó el año pasado de los equipos líderes, que estuvo en torno a las ocho décimas por vuelta, será nuestro principal objetivo esta próxima temporada," indicaba el equipo Williams en el informe anual facilitado recientemente.

Un ligero retraso en el debut del FW30

El debut en pista del nuevo Williams Toyota para esta próxima temporada, el FW30, ha sido retrasado una semana.

El nuevo monoplaza tenía previsto completar sus primeras vueltas el próximo lunes en el circuito de Jerez, pero según publica Auto Motor und Sport, tanto Nico Rosberg como Kazuki Nakajima rodarán la próxima semana en Jerez con el FW29 de la pasada temporada.

"El programa siempre ha ido muy justo," explicaba el Director Técnico Sam Michael. "Así que en lugar de estrenar el coche en Jerez, tendremoS que esperar al siguiente test en Valencia. "

Sin embargo, el monoplaza del 2007 con el que Williams probará en Jerez la próxima semana contará ya con la caja de cambios del 2008, la misma que utilizará también Toyota, y que este año deberá ser la misma durante cuatro Grandes Premios consecutivos. .

"Para nosotros no supone ningún problema," insistía Michael. "Nosotros ya fabricamos la transmisión del 2007 según la normativa para el 2008."

SG Formula competing in the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series

11.01.2008 - After Carlin Motorsport, French team SG Formula is the second new entrant to join the ranks of the Formula 3 Euro Series. The team is looking back upon four successful years in Formula Renault and is now stepping up to the next category.

“Stepping up into the Formula 3 Euro Series is the logical next step for the SG Formula team. We think that we are ready. It is our goal to groom young drivers and teach them to become race winners and champions”, team manager Stéphane Guérin says. “You get the biggest learning effect when you are racing against the best and strongest teams and drivers. Therefore, we are now joining the Formula 3 Euro Series, which I rate as the strongest series below Formula 1-level.”

However, the Formula 3 Euro Series not only is a special challenge for the team principal and the drivers. There is more pressure on the engineers, too. “I am looking forward to these new duties. For engineers, Formula 3 is a special challenge as well, because it isn’t a one-make series. This allows you to achieve much more advantages in the area of technology than for instance in Formula Renault, where you have to use a control chassis”, says chief engineer Thibaut the Mérindol, who has been involved with the team from the very beginning.

Since Stéphane Guérin founded the SG Formula team, the team has been able to win races and championship titles. Many young talents, especially from France, have passed through the ranks of SG, among them Romain Grosjean, Guillaume Moreau, Yann Clairay, Franck Mailleux, Carlo van Dam, Tom Dillmann, Julien Jousse and Jean-Karl Vernay. Last year, ART’s new signing Jules Bianchi clinched the championship title in the French Formula Renault series with an SG car, while British driver Jon Lancaster, who will also be racing for ART in 2008, finished runner-up in the Formula Renault Eurocup.

El neozelandés estudia sus opciones

El piloto de Nueva Zelanda Jonny Reid ha declarado a un diario que está 'muy cerca' de entrar en la F1.

El joven de 24 años, que compite para su país en el campeonato A1 Grand Prix, declaró al New Zealand Herald que espera seguir los pasos del campeón Nico Hulkenberg y contactar con equipos de F1.

"Sería como piloto de pruebas al principio, como Nico Hulkenberg lo está haciendo en Williams," explicaba.

"Si hubiera un test con un equipo decente, lo haría," añadía Reid.

Reid admitía que arriesgar su futuro dejando la A1, donde ha ganado tres carreras, podría ser un peligro.

"Esa es la cuestión, pero es un futuro emocionante," decía.
