Mugello, qualifica: seconda pole consecutiva di Nico Hulkenberg

Due qualifiche, due pole. Nico Hulkenberg (Dallara-Mercedes) sta rispettando le previsioni della vigilia del campionato della F.3 Euro Series, almeno per quanto riguarda la qualifica... visto il disastro rimediato nelle due gare di Hockenheim. Al Mugello, il tedesco del team ART ha piazzato il tempo vincente (1'41"443) solo al momento giusto, non lasciando mai intravvedere nel corso delle prove libere il reale potenziale. In prima fila, a fianco di Hulkenberg, partirà Kodai Tsukakoshi, con la Dallara-Mercedes del team Manor. Un exploit inatteso quello del giapponese.

Terza prestazione per Christian Vietoris, molto veloce con la monoposto del team Mucke, che invece non ha visto brillare Mika Maki. Velocissimo nel terzo turno di prove libere, il rookie finlandese vincitore di gara 1 a Hockenheim non è riuscito a ripetersi ed ha siglato il nono tempo. La Prema si è distinta con Renger Van der Zande, quarto e ben propenso a ripetere il successo di Hockenheim in gara 2. Dani Clos invece, si è piazzato sesto, più indietro Charlie Kimball. Bene Jules Bianchi, quinto. Edoardo Mortara è risultato nettamente il migliore dei piloti Volkswagen ottenendo il settimo tempo.

Nico Hülkenberg: Second pole in second qualifying

02.05.2008 - So far this season, qualifying in the Formula 3 Euyro Series has been the domain of Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix, 1:41.443 min). Just like during the season opener at Hockenheim, he also came out fastest in the second qualifying of the year at Mugello in Italy. Koudai Tsukakoshi (Manor Motorsport, 1:41.609 min), Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport, 1:41.765 min) and Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam, 1:41.905 min) will be completing the first two rows on the starting grid for the third season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 5.245 kilometres long circuit in Tuscany.

Hülkenberg drove his fastest lap time eight minutes before the end of the session. The final attacks of his rivals weren’t good enough to take the top position away from the test driver of the Williams-Toyota-F1-team. Third-placed Christian Vietoris pushed a little bit too hard on his final attempt and had to plough through the gravel trap.

Italian driver, Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus, 1:42.108 min) was best-placed driver with a Volkswagen engine in seventh place behind fastest rookie, Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix, 1:41.906) and James Jakes (ART Grand Prix, 1:42.099 min).

Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix): “Qualifying wasn’t easy. Compared to free practice, the track had changed a lot so that the car didn’t behave all the time like I had expected it to. Moreover, the asphalt was significantly warmer than in the morning. In these conditions, tyres wore out particularly quickly, I could only do one quick lap. This one was about 95 percent right.”

Koudai Tsukakoshi (Manor Motorsport): “The balance of my car is really good. In qualifying, I entirely focussed on finding the right line and not making any mistakes. Moreover, I tried to find a clear lap, in which I succeeded. I am really happy with second place.”

Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport): I am very happy with third place, as the Mugello circuit doesn’t suit me. It took me a few laps to get on the pace. In testing on Thursday, I was way down on the front runners, now I lacked only 0.322 seconds. On my final lap, I was too quick. The tyres were already over their peak and I landed in the gravel trap.”

Michael está abierto a cualquier mejora
Sam Michael ha señalado la posibilidad de que Williams pueda probar en su monoplaza la enorme cubierta de motor que ya utilizan y con éxito los equipos Renault y Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso bromeaba en Barcelona con que su equipo ahora ya podría 'ir a la Copa América' con esa aleta de tiburón en el coche, pero lo cierto es que su debut en el GP de España ha coincidido con una importante mejoría en el rendimiento del R28.

Red Bull Racing fue el primer equipo en usar esa cubierta de motor este año, pero el Director Técnico de Williams, Sam Michael, ha indicado que su equipo ya había experimentado previamente con esa idea en el túnel de viento.

"No todo lo que probamos a nivel interno llega al coche," escribía Michael en su columna en la publicación suiza Motorsport Aktuell.

Sam Michael recordaba que la primera cubierta de motor de estas características se vio en la Champ Car hace ya diez años.

Pero también desvelaba que cuando Williams la experimentó los resultados de eficiencia aerodinámica no fueron suficientemente buenos para los circuitos convencionales.

"Quizás con su configuración, funcione mejor para ellos, " comentaba Michael, "así que es posible que lo volvamos a probar en el futuro."

Ya era hora, tengo ganas de ver la carrera por que a habido un instante que el japo y hulkenberg casi se van al pasto............buena victoria desde la pole sin errores y presionado por el piloto japones, buena actuacion de closs que hizo una gran remontada despues de una pesima salida mañana es provable que gane la carrera sin oposicion, para hulkenberg sera otra pelicula diferente suficiente sera si la mecanica lo respeta y no se sale de pista o le tocan y logra coger algun punto imprescindible para el ansiado titulo que pinta bastante chungo y muy apretado, suerte para mañana.....

Nico Hülkenberg hatte endlich das nötige Glück: Sieg in Mugello

Endlich einmal alles gut gegangen. Nach seiner souveränen Pole-Position konnte sich Nico Hülkenberg auch im Rennen behaupten. Der ART-Pilot hatte allerdings über die gesamte Distanz den Japaner Koudai Tsukakoshi im Nacken. Das Podium komplettierte mit Jules Bianchi ein weiterer Pilot des ART-Teams. Christian Vietoris hatte gleich doppeltes Pech, denn zunächst würgte der Mücke-Fahrer seinen Motor beim Start ab, bei der anschließenden Aufholjagd landete er gemeinsam mit Daniel Campos-Hull im Kiesbett.
Während Hülkenberg beim Start keinen Zweifel aufkommen ließ und sofort nach vorne weg preschte, gab es im hinteren Feld viel Verwirrung. Vietoris würgte den Wagen ab und blieb wie angewurzelt auf seinem hervorragenden dritten Startplatz stehen. Die nachfolgenden Piloten mussten wild auseinanderzacken, um einer Kollision zu entgehen, wie man sie in Hockenheim beim Saisonauftakt schon einmal erlebt hatte.


Mortara mit guten Ergebnis für VW
Hinter Hülkenberg reihte sich zunächst Bianchi auf Rang zwei ein, wurde jedoch nach wenigen Kurven wieder von Tsukakoshi geschnappt. Der Japaner konnte die Lücke zum Führenden überraschend schnell schließen und folgte Hülkenberg rundenlang wie ein Schatten. Neben Vietoris war James Jakes einer der großen Verlierer des Starts, der ART-Pilot fiel auf Rang zwölf zurück. Lokalmatador Edoardo Mortara profitierte am meisten und schoss sich auf Rang fünf nach vorn.

Mika Mäki landete als Sechster wenigstens auf einem Punkteplatz
Während an der Spitze alles unverändert blieb, konnte Mortara als bester VW-Pilot in Runde fünf sogar noch an Hockenheim-Sieger Renger van der Zande vorbeiziehen und machte es sich fortan auf seiner Position gemütlich. Im Hinterfeld wurde nach Herzenslust gerangelt, immer wieder stieg Staub auf, oder Kieselsteine fanden sich auf der Piste wieder. Die heftigsten Ritte durch das Kiesbett legten Charlie Kimball und Stefano Coletti hin, konnten aber beide ihre Fahrt fortsetzen.

Wahnsinnsmanöver von Tsukakoshi
Man hatte sich gerade an ein wohl sortiertes Feld an der Spitze gewöhnt, als der japanische Manor-Pilot einen Überraschungsangriff startete. In Kurve eins zog Tsukakoshi urplötzlich nach außen und setzte sich nicht nur neben Hülkenberg, sondern tickte sogar dessen Hinterrad leicht an. Nach einem wilden Drift konnte der Japaner sein Auto wieder fangen stellte sich wieder brav hinten an. Es sollte der einzige ernsthafte Überholversuch an der Spitze bleiben.
Die beiden Piloten in Front zogen anschließend einsam ihre Kreise, denn auf Rang drei hatte Bianchi bereits acht Sekunden Rückstand, dahinter folgten jeweils mit gehörigem Abstand Mortara und van der Zande. In Runde 17 kam dann das endgültige Aus für Christian Vietoris. Beim Versuch, sich an Campos-Hull vorbei zu pressen, landeten beide im Kiesbett - das Rennen vorbei.
Vorne tat sich in den folgenden vier Runden nichts mehr. Hülkenberg feierte einen letztlich souveränen Erfolg, obwohl man zwischendurch immer wieder das Gefühl hatte, dass der Japaner Tsukakoshi durchaus hätte schneller fahren können. Auftaktsieger Mika Mäki konnte als bester Mücke-Pilot auf Rang sechs fahren, Prema-Mann Dani Clos sicherte sich mit Rang acht die Pole-Position für das morgige zweite Rennen in Mugello.

Nico Hülkenberg ha logrado la victoria en la primera carrera de las F3Euroseries en el circuito italiano de Mugello. El alemán que partía desde la pole ha tenido una dura oposición del piloto de Manor Koduai Tsukakoshi, el japonés ha llevado al límite su monoplaza en una gran maniobra, pero el alemán no iba a dejarse ganar y con un volantazo a izquierdas le ha dejado claro quien es el que manda. Dani Clos ha tenido una mala salida y en la primera curva iba 20º, pero de nuevo ha hecho una gran remontada y ha finalizado 8º, así que primer punto y pole para mañana.

Bueno pues hulkenberg ( 12p. ) es ya tercero en el campeonato a uno de maki ( 13p. ) y a tres si no me equivoco de mortara que es lider del campeonato con 15 puntos veremos que se puede conseguir mañana........

First season win for Nico Hülkenberg

03.05.2008 - At Mugello in Italy, Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix) celebrated his first victory of the season in the Formula 3 Euro Series. The 20-year old German was joined on the podium by Japanese Koudai Tsukakoshi (Manor Motorsport) and rookie driver Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix) from France. After three rounds, Italian Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus) is leading the drivers’ standings. At the 5.245 kilometres long Mugello circuit, the Volkswagen driver crossed the finish line in fourth place and now has 15 points to his tally.

Hülkenberg laid the foundation for his victory at the start when he made the best out of his pole position and led the field into the first corner. During the 21 lap race, he had to turn down one attack by his rival Tsukakoshi, during which the two opponents slightly tangled. After that, Hülkenberg safely drove victory home with 21-year old Honda protégé Tsukakoshi second across the line.

Things went badly for Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport). The German stalled in third place on the grid at the start, tried to catch up from behind, but then retired in the gravel trap with five laps remaining following a collision with Daniel Campos-Hull (HBR Motorsport).

Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix): “Today, it wasn’t an easy win. Tsukakoshi kept me under pressure all the time so that I didn’t have any chance to relax even once. In this race, I had to remain focussed one hundred percent in order not to make any mistakes. After the problems I had in the season opener at Hockenheim, today’s victory is a great result.”

Koudai Tsukakoshi (Manor Motorsport): “It was a hard race today. The balance of my car has been great throughout the weekend. I am really happy with my maiden podium in the Formula 3 Euro Series.”

Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix): “I had a good start and, bar some minor problems with my car, I had a good race, too. Accordingly, third place is all right, that was all I could manage today. My first podium in only my third race in the Formula 3 Euro Series is a great result.”

Bueno pues tres posiciones recupera nico y saliendo octavo no esta mal no a podido imprimir un ritmo como el que le valio ayer para alzarse con la victoria pero por lo menos a puntuado dos puntos son dos puntos je,je....peor parado sale dani closs que tenia la pole al conseguir ser ayer octavo y invertidas hoy las posiciones salia primero al final a quedado noveno y sin puntuar por problemas con el embrague como ayer....

Rookie Mika Mäki wins again

04.05.2008 - For the second time this season, Mika Mäki (Mücke Motorsport) has won a round of the Formula 3 Euro Series. At the 5.245 kilometres long circuit in Mugello in Italy, the 20-year old Finn took the spoils in the fourth season round from Yann Clairay (SG Formula) and Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus). Now, 21-year old Italian, Mortara is now leading the points’ standings together with Mäki, both drivers tied at 19 points. Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix), who had won the Mugello round on Saturday and came home fifth behind his team-mate Jules Bianchi on Sunday, is third in he standings, five points down.

Starting from third place, Mika Mäki had the best getaway and took the lead even before the first corner. He immediately pulled clear from the rest of the field. At the finish line, he had a clear margin of 6.7 seconds over Frenchman, Yann Clairay. The 24-year old Frenchman scored the first podium finish for his French team SG Formula in only its fourth Formula 3 race. For the third time in four races held so far this year, points leader Edoardo Mortara was classified third.

Mika Mäki (Mücke Motorsport): “It was an excellent race. I had a perfect start, a great speed and all in all a great weekend. After the start, I managed to pull clear immediately. When the gap to Yann Clairay was big enough, I tried to save my tyres and safely drove victory home.”

Yann Clairay (SG Formula): “I am very happy with my maiden podium finish in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Being on the podium already in the fourth race with my new team SG Formula is a great performance. A big hand to my guys! It is a great day for the entire team.“

Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus): “Being on the podium again is a beautiful feeling, especially so as we really didn’t expect it this weekend after we had some difficulties early on. Here, I have again been able to score some valuable points for the drivers’ standings. For us, it has been a good weekend.“
