Robert Wickens wins at Le Mans in the rain

05.10.2008 - In a turbulent race at the 4.185 kilometres long Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans, Robert Wickens (Signature-Plus) celebrated his maiden victory in the Formula 3 Euro Series. The Canadian beat Spanish driver Dani Clos (Prema Powerteam) and Jean-Karl Vernay (Signature-Plus) from France. Because of rain setting in, the race was interrupted on lap six and re-started behind the safety car a few minutes later. As less than 75 percent of the planned race distance had been covered, only half of the points were given. Already-crowned champion Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix) finished the race in eighth place, having made it up from 24th on the grid.

Light rain set in right after the start. Because of this, some drivers spun off the track as the asphalt had become slippery. When Jon Lancaster (ART Grand Prix) lost control of his Dallara-Mercedes and hit the barriers, the race was interrupted with a red flag. At that time, Robert Wickens was already leading the field, having claimed first place on lap one from Brendon Hartley (Carlin Motorsport). The Canadian retained his first place when racing resumed while Hartley, who had overtaken Dani Clos for second place earlier on, spun and dropped back to 16th place.

Robert Wickens (Signature-Plus): “I already feared that I had to come into the pits for a tyre change. But then, fortunately, the red flag was out, so I didn’t have to take this difficult decision myself. At the re-start, I could maintain the lead and drive my maiden victory in the Formula 3 Euro Series home. I am very happy.“

Dani Clos (Prema Powerteam): “This podium finish is very important for me and for my team. In the past races, we already had the chance of making it on the podium, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. It is even more beautiful that we finally have made it.”

Jean-Karl Vernay (Signature-Plus): “Being on the podium in front of my home crowd is a very nice feeling. I had a very good start and turned into the first corner in the lead. After that, I made a slight mistake and lost two positions.”

Le Mans, gara 2: pochi giri per la pioggia, vince Robert Wickens

Prima vittoria di Robert Wickens nella F.3 Euro Series, un successo che riporta il motore Volkswagen sul gradino più alto del podio. Ma la corsa è stata ampiamente disturbata dalla pioggia. Dopo i primi 6 giri infatti, i piloti sono stati fermati con bandiera rossa per via dell'incidente a Jon Lancaster e fatti ripartire dietro la safety-car dopo pochi minuti. Wickens ha tenuto la testa dopo aver bruciato Brendon Hartley in partenza. Il neozelandese, superato da Dani Clos, ha rischiato di tamponare lo spagnolo ed è finito in testacoda.

Gara accorciata a 11 giri e quindi verrà assegnato metà punteggio. Numerosi i testacoda, tra i piloti che hanno commesso errori anche il vincitore di gara 1 Jules Bianchi. Grande rimonta di Nico Hulkenberg, ottavo al traguardo dopo essere partito dalle ultime file. Soddisfazione in casa Prema per il secondo posto di Clos che così cancella un periodo negativo. Ad Hartley sono poi stati assegnati 30" di penalità per una irregolarità commessa.

Meister!!! - Nico Hülkenberg holt Titel in der Formel 3 EuroSerie








Gratulation - Rennfahrer Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix) hat sich bei der vorletzten Veranstaltung der Formel 3 EuroSerie im französischen Le Mans wie erwartet vorzeitig den Meistertitel gesichert. Bereits zwei Wertungsläufe vor Saisonende liegt der 21-Jährige uneinholbar an der Spitze der Meisterschaftswertung.

Mit 24 Punkten Vorsprung im Gepäck war der Williams-Formel-1-Testfahrer an den Bugatti Circuit in den Nordwesten von Frankreich gereist. Nach Platz drei im Freien Training sicherte sich Hülkenberg auch im Qualifying mit Startplatz drei eine gute Ausgangsposition für das Rennen am Samstag.
Im Anschluss an das Zeittraining zeigte er sich dennoch nicht ganz zufrieden: “Das gesamte Qualifying war sehr unruhig und ich habe nie den richtigen Grip gefunden. Nun werden wir sehen, was in den Rennen passiert.”
Das Rennen am Samstagmittag war für den 21-Jährigen allerdings sehr schnell entschieden. Nach einem Fehler blieb Nico Hülkenberg gleich beim Start stehen und fiel bis ans Ende des Feldes zurück. Mit einer Runde Rückstand verlief das restliche Rennen anschließend relativ unspektakulär für den ART Grand Prix-Piloten.
Da seine direkten Verfolger allerdings nicht genügend Punkte einfahren konnten, durfte sich Nico Hülkenberg trotz des für ihn unglücklichen Rennverlaufes als neuer Meister der Formel 3 EuroSerie feiern lassen.
“Im Moment kann ich mich noch nicht richtig freuen. Sehr gerne hätte ich den Titel heute mit einem Podiumsplatz eingefahren. Bedauerlicherweise ist mir am Start allerdings ein Fehler unterlaufen. Trotzdem haben wir es geschafft und alle die mitgeholfen haben dürfen sich darüber freuen. Morgen haben wir noch ein weiteres Rennen, aber ich denke wir werden heute schon einmal auf den Erfolg anstoßen”, so das Statement von Nico Hülkenberg nach dem Rennen.
Im Sonntagsrennen musste der schon als Champion feststehende Nico Hülkenberg somit von Startplatz 24 ins Rennen gehen. Wegen einsetzenden Regens wurde der Lauf in der sechsten Runde unterbrochen und wenig später hinter dem Safety Car wieder gestartet. Der Emmericher zeigte in den wenigen Runden eine gute Leistung und beendete das Rennen schließlich auf Position acht.
Mit dem Titelgewinn in der Formel 3 EuroSerie setzt Nico Hülkenberg die Siegerliste der prominenten Vorgänger fort, unter ihnen z.B. die DTM-Piloten Jamie Green (2004) und Paul di Resta (2005) sowie Formel-1-Vizeweltmeister Lewis Hamilton (2006).
Die Abschlussveranstaltung auf dem Hockenheimring (27.-29.10.08) wird nun zu einer Triumphfahrt für den ambitionierten Rennfahrer aus Emmerich. Nach einer Saison mit durchweg konstant starken Leistungen hat sich Nico Hülkenberg dies mit Sicherheit mehr als verdient.
Gratulation Nico Hülkenberg!!! Das war eine wahrhaft meisterliche Saison.

Nico Hülkenberg wird schoin bald einen GP2-Test in Hockenheim absolvieren


Mit Nico Hülkenberg ist ein Ehemaliger aus dem ATS Formel-3-Cup vorzeitig Champion der Formel-3-Euroserie geworden. Der 21-Jährige aus Emmerich liegt vor dem Saisonfinale in Hockenheim uneinholbar an der Spitze. 2006 wurde Hülkenberg Gesamtfünfter des Formel-3-Cup. Er holte damals einen Sieg, insgesamt sechs Podestplätze, drei Mal die schnellte Rennrunde und zwei Pole-Position. Im Interview erklärte der Schützling von Schmuacher-Manager Willi Weber einige Stationen seiner Karriere.

Frage: "Nico, du bist im Formel-3-Cup nicht ganz so erfolgreich gewesen wie später in der A1GP oder jetzt in der Euroserie. Wie blickst du auf dein Jahr 2006 mit nur einem einzigen Formel-3-Sieg zurück?"
Nico Hülkenberg: "Es war dennoch ein gutes Jahr, obwohl es nicht optimal lief. Nach dem Hype 2005, als ich Meister der Formel BMW geworden war, bekam ich im ATS Formel-3-Cup erstmal einige Dämpfer. Aber vielleicht war das ganz gut so. Ich habe mich dort sehr weiterentwickelt und viel gelernt, obwohl ich auch Fehler gemacht habe. Insgesamt hat mich die Saison im Formel-3-Cup sehr geprägt und geformt."

Frage: "Dein Titelgewinn in der Formel-3-Euroserie war je eher ungewöhnlich..."
Hülkenberg: "Das kann man wohl sagen. Einen Titelgewinn stellt man sich anders vor. Doch es ist wie es ist. Ich habe beim Start den Motor abgewürgt und war dann chancenlos. Doch mein Konkurrent Mortara ist ja auch nicht in die Punkte gekommen und deshalb bin ich jetzt Meister."
Frage: "Der Meistertitel wurde ja auch fast schon von dir erwartet, oder?"
Hülkenberg: "Was heißt fast? Er wurde erwartet - auch von mir selbst. Mit dem Druck sind wir auch immer gut klargekommen. Wir waren vom Speed her immer vorn dabei, wir waren immer unter den Schnellsten zu finden."
Frage: "2007 warst du Dritter, 2008 folgte der Meistertitel, was kommt 2009?"
Hülkenberg: "Am besten der Titel in der GP2 - das wäre natürlich der Wahnsinn. Doch dort werde ich wohl 2009 fahren. Ich habe noch nie im neuen GP2-Auto gesessen. In Hockenheim haben wir bald den ersten Test. Danach kann ich alles ein bisschen besser einschätzen."

Erst Anfang Oktober machte sich Nico Hülkenberg zum Champion in der Formel-3-Euroserie, und nun geht er kompromisslos den nächsten Schritt in Richtung Formel 1. Denn der Deutsche wird nicht am traditionellen Saisonfinale in Macau teilnehmen, sondern einen GP2-Test in Paul Ricard fahren.
Ayrton Senna (1983) und Michael Schumacher (1990) stehen in den Siegerlisten des inoffiziellen Formel-3-Weltfinales der ehemaligen portugiesischen Kolonie, die seit 1999 wieder in chinesischem Besitz ist. Hulkenberg to miss Macau GP

Formula 3 Euro Series champion Nico Hulkenberg will not race in this year's Macau Grand Prix.
The German wrapped up the European title earlier this month, but will not return to the end-of-season event this year because it takes place in the same week as a GP2 ground test at Paul Ricard, where he will be in action for ART Grand Prix.
Hulkenberg had a luckless time at Macau last season, but would have gone into this year's 55th running of the event as the favourite after dominating the Euro Series this year.
"Macau is an amazing event, a great place and I enjoyed it a lot last year, so it's a shame not to be going back this year," he told this week's Autosport magazine. "But I need to concentrate on GP2 now for next year."
Hulkenberg's absence, as well as the strength of the Macau rookies on this year's entry list, mean there is a good chance that the race could be won by a Macau debutant for the first time since Alexandre Premat's victory in 2004.
The leading newcomers this season include British F3 champion Jaime Alguersuari and runner-up Oliver Turvey - who are joined at Carlin Motorsport by Marcus Ericsson - Euro Series front runners Jules Bianchi, Mika Maki and Jon Lancaster, and Japanese F3 runner-up Kaisuke Kunimoto.
But Alguersuari played down the chances of a Macau rookie winning the event.
"It will be hard for all of us because it's a very difficult circuit and almost always the second-year drivers do best there," he told Autosport.
Expected contenders with experience of the Macau streets include Japanese F3 champion Carlo van Dam, British F3 front runner Brendon Hartley, and Euro Series front runners Edoardo Mortara, Renger van der Zande, Sam Bird and James Jakes, and Australian F3 champion James Winslow.

ART Grand Prix wins team title

16.10.2008 - While Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix) succeeded in early securing the Formula 3 Euro Series Drivers’ Championship, at Le Mans, his team had even more reasons to celebrate: at the French racetrack, ART Grand Prix also secured the team title.

With two more races to go - held in the support programme of the DTM season finale at Hockenheim - French team ART Grand Prix holds a 37.5-point lead over the second-place squad, Signature Plus (also France). And with a maximum of 36 points to be scored in the final two rounds of the season, the chances of Volkswagen powered Team Signature Plus of defeating ART are over. Consequently, the four ART drivers that contested the season with Mercedes-Benz engines - Nico Hülkenberg, Jules Bianchi, Jon Lancaster and James Jakes - clinched the team championship as early as prior to the season finale. In addition, Bianchi still may hope for prevailing in the battle for the rookie title.

Meanwhile, Signature-Plus, represented by Edoardo Mortara, Jean-Karl Vernay, Franck Mailleux, Stefano Coletti and Robert Wickens, may not yet be certain to finish runner-up. It has to be admitted that they hold a rather comfortable 23.5-point lead over Mücke Motorsport but Mücke drivers Mika Mäki, Erik Janis and Christian Vietoris will give their very best to defeat the drivers of Team Principal Philippe Sinault and to secure second place themselves. Manor Motorsport (fourth) and Prema Powerteam (fifth) complete the top five, prior to the season finale at Hockenheim. SG Formula currently holds sixth position, thus being the better of the two new teams on the Formula 3 Euro Series grid.

The best two drivers of a team are ranked for the team ranking - irrespective of the number of cars a team has entered. The points of these two drivers are awarded to the respective team. Should more than two drivers of a team have succeeded in scoring points, those drivers won’t be scored for the team ranking and the drivers placed behind them move up. Consequently, it is possible that a team has got more points on its tally than the amount of points you would get when adding up all the points scored by its drivers.

The challenge Macao

17.10.2008 - Traditionally, mid-November is the date for the unofficial Formula 3 World Finals held at Macao - one of the most prestigious and most significant Formula 3 events on the planet. 13 Formula 3 Euro Series drivers will travel to the former Portuguese colony to try to follow the footsteps of former winners such as Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

At total of seven teams usually competing in the planet’s most competitive young-gun series will make the long-haul trip to Asia: Carlin Motorsport, Signature-Plus, ART Grand Prix, Prema Powerteam, Manor Motorsport, HBR Motorsport and RC Motorsport.

ART Grand Prix, the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series Team Championship winners, will enter two Dallara-Mercedes single-seaters for rookie Jules Bianchi and James Jakes. Champion Nico Hülkenberg, however, opted for doing without contesting the event in China. With long-time Formula 3 Euro Series Championship leader Edoardo Mortara, Finnish rookie Mika Mäki and China’s Cheng Cong Fu, Signature-Plus will be represented by three drivers. For the appearance in his home country, Cong Fu switches from his regular team, RC Motorsport, to Signature-Plus.

Manor Motorsport also will enter three cars - that will be raced by Sam Bird, Kazuya Oshima and Jon Lancaster, with the latter usually driving for ART. While Italy’s Prema Powerteam will rely on their standard driver line-up. Consequently, they will contest the final important race of the season with Renger van der Zande and Stefano Coletti. The same applies to HBR Motorsport who are going to enter their full Euro Series line-up. For both Daniel Campos-Hull and Basil Shaaban, it will be the first appearance on the demanding street circuit.

Meanwhile, Brendon Hartley will contest the event for Carlin Motorsport. The Kiwi has been racing the Dallara-Mercedes of previous Carlin Motorsport driver since the Barcelona race weekend. In addition to his Formula 3 Euro Series involvement, he also contested this year’s Formula 3 Euro Series Championship - and finished third, there. Hartley’s team-mates in Macao will be new British Formula 3 Champion Jaime Alguersuari, Oliver Turvey and Marcus Ericsson - with all the three having contested the British F3 series only.

And there is a seventh Formula 3 Euro Series team on the event’s official entry list: RC Motorsport. The Italians will be represented by Belgian Laurens Vanthoor who made his car-racing debut, this year. In Germany’s ATS Formula 3 Cup, the 17-year old secured two race wins and finished fourth in the championship.

Nico Hülkenberg steht als Meister in der Formel-3-Euroserie bereits fest, doch der Platz hinter dem Champion ist beim Finale weiter heiß umkämpft

(Motorsport-Total.com) - Nico Hülkenberg kann ganz entspannt in das Finalwochenende der Formel-3-Euroserie gehen. Der ART-Pilot hat sich den Meistertitel schon vorzeitig in Le Mans gesichert. Doch um den zweiten Gesamtrang und damit den "Vizetitel" wird bei den letzten beiden Rennen am kommenden Wochenende in Hockenheim weiter heiß gefightet. Insgesamt sind noch 17 Punkte zu vergeben. Als aktueller Zweiter kommt Signature-Pilot Edoardo Mortara nach Hockenheim. Er hat sieben Punkte Vorsprung auf seinen engsten Verfolger Jules Bianchi (ART). Weitere zwei Punkte dahinter folgt Mücke-Pilot Mika Mäki als Gesamtvierter. Rechnerische Chancen haben auch noch Renger van der Zande, Christian Vietoris und Yann Clairay.

Mortara hat an Hockenheim gute Erinnerungen: Beim Saisonauftakt im April gelangen ihm die ersten beiden Podiumsplätze für Volkswagen in der Formel-3-Euroserie. "Ich mag den Kurs und wir sollten eine passende Abstimmung für unser Fahrzeug parat haben. Wir werden alles geben, denn der zweite Gesamtrang wäre ein großartiger Erfolg. In diesem Jahr fällt der Konkurrenzkampf noch größer aus als in den vergangenen Jahren", so der Italiener, der Anfang Juni im französischen Pau den ersten Volkswagen-Sieg in der Euroserie feierte und fünf weitere Podiumsplätze erzielte.
Doch seine Rivalen im Kampf um Platz zwei sind ebenso erfolgshungrig. Mücke-Pilot Mäki zum Beispiel. Der finnische Red-Bull-Junior führte in der ersten Saisonhälfte sogar vorübergehend in der Meisterschaft, jetzt will er mindestens den zweiten Gesamtplatz holen: "Ich denke, wenn ich die Saison in Hockenheim so beende, wie ich sie auch begonnen habe - mit einem Sieg - so kann ich vielleicht doch noch den Vizemeistertitel holen. Das wäre ein sehr positiver Abschluss." In der Rookie-Wertung der besten Neueinsteiger hat Mäki sogar noch Chancen auf den Titel.
Beim Saisonfinale in Hockenheim wird es auch einen Debütanten geben: Laurens Vanthoor. Nach zwei Siegen und Schlussrang drei im Formel-3-Cup darf der erst 17 Jahre alte Belgier für Volkswagen erstmals in der europäischen Meisterschaft starten. "Eine tolle Chance, die mir Volkswagen damit bietet. Und zudem eine sehr gute Möglichkeit, mich auf Macau vorzubereiten", so der Formel-3-Neuling, der im Vorjahr noch Kartrennen fuhr. Wie in Hockenheim startet der Nachwuchs-Pilot auch beim Stadtrennen in Macau für das italienische RC-Team.
Sein Heimrennen wird in Hockenheim der Leimener Jens Klingmann bestreiten: "Ich wohne nur eine Viertelstunde vom Motodrom entfernt, daher ist es ein echtes Heimrennen für mich." Der 18-Jährige kennt den 4,574 Kilometer langen Kurs gut: "Die Schlüsselstelle ist die zweite Kurve, dort muss man viel Schwung auf die sehr lange Parabolika-Kurve mitnehmen. Die Abstimmung ist ein Kompromiss aus Top-Speed und Abtrieb, denn der Kurs bietet sowohl schnelle als auch langsame Passagen."

Hockenheim: Schaulaufen für Meister Hülkenberg



Den Titel in der Formel 3 EuroSerie hat sich Nico Hülkenberg bereits bei der vorletzten Saisonveranstaltung in Le Mans gesichert. Beim Finale in Hockenheim möchte sich der Champion nochmals seinen Fans präsentieren.

“Ich möchte mich beim Saisonfinale mit einem guten Ergebnis aus der EuroSerie verabschieden. Es war eine sehr schöne und auch erfolgreiche Saison. Mein Dank gilt all denen die zum guten Gelingen beigetragen haben. In Hockenheim erwarten uns sicherlich nochmal viele Zuschauer und Fans. Ich freue mich auf die letzten beiden Saisonrennen”, so Nico Hülkenberg vor seiner Abreise an den Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg.

Hockenheim, libere: Christian Vietoris guida il gruppo

Ultima prova della F.3 Euro Series che ritorna sul circuito di Hockenheim, già sede della tappa di apertura stagionale. Un solo turno di prove libere e Christian Vietoris del team Mucke è stato il più veloce davanti al giapponese Koudai Tsukakoshi e a Edoardo Mortara, con il motore Volkswagen. Tutti in fila i piloti Prema, dall'undicesima alla tredicesima posizione, con Stefano Coletti davanti a Dani Clos e Renger Van der Zande. In casa RC Motorsport non ha corso Nelson Panciatici, bloccato all'ultimo momento dal suo team Hache con il quale sta correndo nella F.3 spagnola. RC ha trovato ieri notte la disponibilità di Frederic Vervisch, campione della F.3 tedesca.

Hockenheim, qualifica: Nico Hulkenberg fa sua la pole finale

Non si accontenta Nico Hulkenberg e nell'ultima prova della F.3 europea che ha conquistato in anticipo ha voluto firmare anche la pole finale a Hockenheim, la sesta del 2008. Hulkenberg ha preceduto il connazionale Christian Vietoris che nelle libere aveva colto il miglior tempo. Grande qualifica per Edoardo Mortara che ha confermato la posizione della mattina: la terza. Con lui in seconda fila Renger Van der Zande del team Prema, sempre a suo agio su questo circuito. La squadra italiana sorride al sesto posto di Stefano Coletti, preceduto da Jules Bianchi. In casa RC Motorsport, il più veloce è stato il cinese Cong Fu Cheng, ventitreesimo. A Hockenheim è in ballo il secondo posto finale nel campionato: la situazione vede Mortara con 49 punti, Bianchi 42, Maki 40, Van der Zande 37 e Vietoris 36.

Champion Nico Hülkenberg fastest qualifier for the sixth time

24.10.2008 - Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix, 1:33.218 min) bows out of the Formula 3 Euro Series by setting the fastest qualifying time for the sixth time this season. Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport, 1:33.296 min) and Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus, 1:33.307 min) followed the test driver of the Williams Formula 1 team within less than 0.1 second. Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam, 1:33.450 min) qualified fourth at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg.

While Hülkenberg already set his fastest lap time with three minutes remaining, the battle of Vietoris against Mortara was only decided in the final second. Firstly, the Italian outpaced the German for second, then Vietoris countered successfully. However, third place on the grid is a good basis for Mortara for successfully defending his runner-up position in the championship standings.

Best-placed rookie in the 28-strong field was Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix, 1:33.483 min) in fifth place. The Frenchman was followed by Stefano Coletti (Prema Powerteam, 1:33.665 min). The leader in the rookie standings, Erik Janis (Mücke Motorsport, 1:34.182 min) only ended up 16th and will now have to worry about his leading position in the rookie classification.

Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix): “Qualifying was great. With the first set of tyres, I was second, but I absolutely wanted to set the fastest time. I have tried everything and it worked out. By being fastest in qualifying six times this year, I have shown that I am as good as anyone in qualifying.”

Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport): “Halfway through the session, I was third and I was certain that I could match Jules Bianchi’s lap time, who was fastest at that point. But with the second set of tyres, I almost despaired, I never found a clear lap. Eventually, I still made it into second place.“

Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus): My qualifying was nearly perfect. I had clear laps and I made it through all right. Maybe, I could have done even better, but I still made a slight error. However, I am also happy with third place on the grid. Being that far up front again after such a long time is great.”

Aqui esta el por que, parece ser que pesaba menos de lo permitido ayer en los entrenos oficiales y el equipo apelo dejandole correr los comisarios al piloto aleman afalta de la investigacion, y de confirmarse seria excluido.



Nico Hülkenberg’s seventh stroke

25.10.2008 - Already-crowned champion Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix) won the 19th season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. He won from Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam) and Mika Mäki (Mücke Motorsport). This allows the Finn to move up into third place in the drivers’ standings. With only one round remaining, he is three points down on Edoardo Mortara (Signature-Plus). Erik Janis (Mücke Motorsport) defended a tiny margin of 0.5 points over his rival Mäki in the rookie classification by finishing eighth.

Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport) crossed the finish line in second place, but he wasn’t classified. In qualifying, the Mücke driver’s car was found to be 0.8 kg underweight, for which he was disqualified. As his team appealed against the decision, he was allowed to start from his original second grid position. According to the regulations, however, he doesn’t appear in the results.

The race started Brendon Hartley barrel-rolling on the first lap. The driver from New Zealand was transferred to the medical centre for examination. There, the doctors didn’t find any injuries.

Nico Hülkenberg (ART Grand Prix): “Yesterday’s pole position was just awesome, I am really proud of that lap. In today’s race, it went just as well. We have made up for what should already have been at Le Mans and we have shown here to everybody who is the champion.”

Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam): “The last couple of races didn’t go too well. Therefore, being on the podium again today is even nicer. I still have chances to become runner-up. I will give everything on Sunday to achieve that. Spectators can look forward to a great race.”

Mika Mäki (Mücke Motorsport): Initially, I could make up some places until I was behind Renger van der Zande, who was too far away to attack him. Then I tried to keep Stefano Coletti behind me, which I managed. Now, I am only three points short of second place in the standings. Claiming runner-up spot is my goal for tomorrow’s race.”
